Swedish Massage
The term Swedish Massage refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to
relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and
rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Some of the
strokes used in Swedish Massage are; effleurage, petrissage, friction, vibration,
percussion and passive and active movements
Intuitive Massage
In this type of massage, the therapist listens with the hands and intuition to what is
being communicated by the client’s body and energy fields, and translates this into a
massage tailored to the specific needs of the client at that time. The techniques used
will show up instinctively and may cross the boundaries of more than one modality of
bodywork during the same session.
There is an allowance for whatever is needed at the time and the therapist does not
steer the massage in any way. One might say the therapist is guided by a higher
realm of collective understanding, which is always working for the benefit of both the
client and the therapist. The session works to the levels the client is able to integrate.
Medical Massage
Medical Massage is the type of massage that is prescribed by a doctor and
addresses medical conditions through researched massage techniques for the
specific condition. e.g.: tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar faciitis, etc...
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is the application of finger pressure to the acupressure points located on the
meridians of the body to balance the five elements of the body.
Used to promote the free movement of Chi throughout the body, Shiatsu is very
relaxing and can have a profound effect on the body. Sean’s technique focuses
more on the energetic level with a very light touch.
